Living
in a Country Music Dream
Poem
by Karen Lyon Pingleton |
|
If only
fantasies could be real life and dreams
really did come true
I would take a tour of Graceland and the
Grand Ole Opry too
I could pack up my honey bun, and head
for the hills of Tennessee
For a vacation in the mountains in my
make believe R.V.
Listening to those country songs that
stick inside the mind
the ones that touch a place inside I
thought Id left behind
Like Grandpa, Tell Me About The
Good Old Days and Coal
Miners Daughter
Stand By Your Man ,He
Stopped Loving Her Today and
Coat Of Many Colors
Remembering Dottie, Kitty, Patsy, Waylon
and Conway too
Bill Monroe, Little Jimmy, Porter, and
Johnny & June
Grampa Jones and String Bean, on the old
re-runs of Hee Haw
Roy and Archie with their funny stories,
I still love them all
Now I cry and sing along with Miranda in
The House That Built Me
Tim singing Dont Take The
Girl almost brings me to my knees
Remember When by Alan takes
me on a walk back through time
Collins note signed Love
Me is a tender way to say good bye
Randy The Hard Rock Bottom of Your
Heart still gets to me today
Travis had The Best Of
Intentions and I forgave him right
away
Both Hanks had that Family
Tradition, and Brad his
Alcohol
George is on the Seashores of Old
Mexico with no worries at all
Sylvia your Nobody called
today, and Kenny You Had Me at
Hello
Someone Pour me another
Whiskey Lullabye and pick the
old banjo
I Aint as Good as I Once
Was either Toby, but I still drive
a Ford
I guess Im a Redneck
Woman Gretchen, I shop all the
dollar stores
Sara left all the Suds in a
Bucket when she decided to leave
Carrie brings out the best in all of us
singing Before He Cheats
Blake is Doing What She
Likes, in his romantic flaming
video
Garth is happy doing his concerts, and
Trisha her cooking show
I cant get Drunk on a
Plane Dierks because I refuse to
fly
So here I sit day by day watching all my
dreams go by
Sadly, Life Aint Always
Beautiful just like Gary sings
and The World Aint Gonna
Stop, for broken hearts or wings
I Aint No Quitter
Shania, Im just getting old too
quick
My mind and feet start slipping as the
sands of time do shift
Life isnt a Rose Garden
when the aging body starts to fall apart
But youth thrives indignantly deep inside
this Snow Birds heart
I dont need to leave the comfort of
my home, I enjoy living in the dream
Preserving all the memories of the ones
who make my heart dance and sing
You pour your hearts into your songs and
videos for all of us out here
Who share the joy of watching them with
laughter, love, and tears |
