The ten-song,
as-yet-untitled disc represents some of John's
edgiest songwriting to date - due in no small
part to his relocation last year from the
relatively laid-back confines of San Francisco to
his new home, "The City That Never
Sleeps," New York City. The album was
recorded at studio Fifty311 in Los Angeles with
Joerg Stoeffel at the controls.Some
Of The New Songs With Comments From John
"Reality" - A satirical look poking
fun at Reality TV stars and wannabees...their
issues and insecurities...more specifically,
about a delusional reality wannabe who thinks
that by becoming famous they'll make the
significant other that they just dumped feel
regret.
"Black Dress" - About a beautiful woman
in a black dress I once saw...the dress itself is
the fortress that I cannot penetrate to get to
what I desire.
"We Hear Your Cry" - I wrote this lyric
as a poem when I saw the news a couple of years
ago about the stolen votes in Iran and reflecting
on thirty years of oppression there. Giving them
some hope in saying that the world is watch-ing
and we're on your side.
"Keep Your Jacket On" - A
straight-ahead blues tune that is a showstopper
when played live, about a man whose arrogant
girlfriend has been fooling around on him, and he
tells her to get the hell out!
"Tears Of Yesterday" - Mid-tempo jazzy
shuffle with horns, asking our predecessors if
they would have made the same environmental
mistakes in hindsight.
