In modern history, the United States has faced many challenges - from the loss of nearly 3000 people in the horrific 9/11 planned attacks on New York City and Washington, DC to the more recent movie theater tragedy in Aurora, Colorado where 12 lives were lost - yet despite all the devastation and heartache that has happened, one thing remains constant – the undaunted American spirit! Neighbors, friends, families and strangers have come together to meet the needs of those struggling to rebuild shattered lives. Contemporary Christian artist, Tobi Gordon exemplifies that undying spirit. With her music ministry, she is bringing families together and healing hearts all across America.

From Edmond, Oklahoma, Tobi began her career by singing in church, children’s camps and major sports game appearances. In 2001, she was chosen to perform in Europe as an Oklahoma music ambassador, while slated to play flute in the band, at the last minute, she chose to sing the song “Be Thou My Vision” a cappella. She remembers her thoughts after that performance, “I can minister to so many more people. I realized this could be my mission field - singing for all these people.” That decision changed her vision forever and has now put her squarely in the national spotlight. With the release of her album, Let’s Sing America, she has received rave reviews, earning five stars from the Billboard reviewers as well as notable quotes from Rolling Stone who recognized her as “the best family oriented star since Brenda Lee” and an ABC Radio programmer in New York calling the project, “the best healing CD I have ever heard since the nation went through 9/11.” The CD, produced by Nashville record producer, Robert Metzgar, includes songs by some of the music industry’s finest songwriters including Bill & Gloria Gaither and Tom Shapiro. When that quality of material is mixed with Tobi’s heartfelt vocals, there is musical magic - which reflects her strong faith in God, as well as her belief in American values and family.

But Tobi’s faith-filled commitment is about more than singing and she adds an even more hands on approach to her ministry. She is studying to be a sign language interpreter. Admittedly an introvert, she has struggled being in the spotlight, but as she notes her studies have made a difference, “My signing really helps support my singing because until I started signing, I was always the really nervous type that would just stand in the front and not really do anything when I was singing, just stand really still. But once I got into sign language and was able to show all those expressions and able to harness that that I use for sign language and bring that out while I’m singing.” Now more comfortable on stage, her talent continues to grow and expand.

As a part of her personal spiritual journey, Tobi is dedicated to helping handicapped and terminally ill children with summer camps, music scholarships and getting them to be all they can be musically. Each year, she and her husband work to send approximately 250 children to camp - all supported by their music ministry.

When learning of the recent shootings in Colorado, Tobi rushed to help. With her music, she is touching hearts and souls with her song “All Across The Country, This Country Needs The Cross” being aired in heavy rotation on some Denver Christian radio stations and her album has been made available to all the families affected by this tragedy. Plus in conjunction with the Nazarene churches in the greater Denver area, Tobi, as well as numerous other artists, are donating monies from album sales to help the victims in Aurora – all monies raised are combined in the Mayor’s non-profit fund and to date all monies raised total over two million dollars!

Tobi’s latest release from her album Let’s Sing America, “The Eagle,” is again adding even more recognition to her already fast-rising musical career. The song is currently in the Top-40 on the New Music Weekly Hot Country Singles Chart and in the “bubbling under” category of the Top 200 Billboard Christian single releases.

A bright shining star on the horizon, Tobi Gordon, is using her notoriety, talent and heart to follow her God-given purpose. But perhaps, the words to the title-cut of her album, “Let’s Sing America,” which was released on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, describes her life the best, “I can’t imagine life without a song; When I sing a happy tune…the dark clouds depart; It soothes my troubled soul and give me hope to carry on; Where would this world be without a song.”

With a true American spirit and an enduring faith in God, Tobi Gordon will go far beyond her own expectations in her quest to touch the lives of those that are hurting by offering hope and inspiration to all Americans!
