Over the years, a simple, honest and pure traditional country music sound has echoed throughout the hills of West Virginia and has brought many artists to the center stage including Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper, Red Sovine, Little Jimmy Dickens, Johnny Paycheck, Connie Smith, Kathy Mattea and Brad Paisley. This fertile musical training ground is also home to country music newcomer, Thomas K. White. Born and raised in Gilbert, West Virginia, he is a singer/songwriter that truly has country music running through his veins, as he notes, “I just love country music.”

Thomas started writing songs about ten years ago and over that time has worked hard to hone his songwriting craft. As his skills grew, he also learned to play the guitar, and the more he wrote, played and sang, the more he found he loved it. Now a burning desire within him, this passion shows through in his lyrics and while he describes himself as “just a simple songwriter,” there’s obviously more to it.

Influenced by artists such as Hank Williams and Merle Haggard as well as songwriters Dallas Frazier and Sonny Throckmorton, it’s no surprise that his music has such a traditional style. Thomas notes, “Traditional music is where my heart is at for sure.” Just reading the song titles like “Put The Hurtin’ In The Song,” “Turned To Steel And Stone,” “Big Train” and “One More Hillbilly” from his first album, White’s Diner, makes you think traditional without even hearing the first chord. And his second album, Livin’ To Run, Runnin’ To Live follows that same path with titles like “I Need A Honky Tonk,” “A Happy Tune,” “Thank You Lord,” “Like Me And You” and “This Old Heart.”

Now with the release of the single, “Fall Back In Love With Me,” Thomas is garnering some much deserved airplay and chart action. All at the same time, his song “Christmas Day” is receiving spins as well this holiday season. This is a dream come true for this unpretentious and unassuming young man, and he is humbled by the attention his recordings are receiving. When asked about his music, he comments, “I just hope somebody likes one of ‘em,” … and obviously somebody does!

With two albums already behind him, he’s excitedly working on his third which will also be full of self-penned tunes. Recording again in Nashville, Tennessee, this project is slated to be ready for release in early 2013. One can expect more of what has become his signature sound - hardcore, honky tonk, and traditional country music – simple, honest and pure. Perhaps Thomas says it best, “I just try to write with feeling more than anything.”

In addition to the new album next year, Thomas is looking forward to performing live, meeting fans and further sharpening his songwriting skills. Surrounded by his wife, daughter and family, Thomas K. White is sure to continue on his path to success by writing and singing songs that will carry forward the already rich country music history of West Virginia.
