 In
a special, deserving and long-awaited family
gathering, Lorrie Morgan and her
children, Jesse Keith Whitley and Morgan Whitley,
accepted the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award in
recognition of the late Keith Whitley for his
contributions to the history and future of
country music as part of the Academy of Country
Music’s Seventh Annual ACM Honors on Tuesday
evening, September 10, 2013. Concluding the
honors and awards event held at the historic
Ryman Auditorium
(Nashville, TN), Lorrie and son, Jesse Keith,
performed their heartfelt rendition of “Til
A Tear Becomes A Rose" to which the
performance met with overwhelming and embracing
applause. (The song was originally recorded by
Keith Whitley as a duet with Lorrie and
posthumously released in 1990; it was the only
single from Whitley's GREATEST HITS album. The
single peaked at No. 13 on the country singles
charts.)
