Many
country music artists have made the transition
from Australia to Nashville, but few have done so
with as much passion and sincerity as Craig
Morrison. As he embarks on his radio tour in
support of his debut album, Fences, he is
catching a glimpse of America and being embraced
by country music fans. Excited about this new
journey, he comments, “I’m enjoying the
experience of getting out there and meeting
everybody.”
The title cut, “Fences” is already a
Top 5 hit on the Australian Country Music Tracks
chart and is gaining ground here. It was actually
the first tune he selected for the album. The
song’s message is a very personal one since
he was facing a huge hurdle himself - making the
move to the United States.
With the help of Grammy Award nominated producer,
Mark Moffett, he began the process of creating an
album that would appeal to a worldwide audience.
They selected three of Craig’s self-penned
songs, two entitled “Reminisce” and
“Doin’ Country,” which he wrote
with his wife, Nichole. They then turned to
writers such as Robert Ellis Orral and Jessi
Leigh Alexander for top-shelf material, giving
the project a style and depth that is truly Craig
Morrison.
One special song, “Love You More,”
conveys the importance of expressing our feelings
to those we love, but it has an even deeper
meaning to Craig. Recently volunteering for
“Musicians On Call” at Vanderbilt
Hospital in Nashville, he met an elderly lady who
was once a singer herself. He serenaded her with
an acoustic version of “Love You More”
which brought a smile to her face that he will
never forget. She died shortly thereafter, but
the memory remains, as he recalls, “It just
made me feel so emotional.” For Craig, those
moments are what it’s all about. When asked
what he wants fans to know about him, he simply
comments, “I’m an entertainer, and
I’m here for them.”
Craig Morrison has a passion for music and a
heart to bless people - that is a winning
combination!
Welcome to Nashville!
